HOT Candles ~ Candle Care guide.

HOT Candles NZ | Homemade Decor Candles in New Zealand

Welcome to my world of HOT Candles! I design sculptural candles that add a touch of art and warmth to any room.

Most of the candles in my Art range, including the Art Drip, Marble, and Shibari, are one-of-a-kind pieces of semi-permanent art that you won't find anywhere else. When you purchase from this range, you will receive the exact candle shown on the website.

For the non-art range, please keep in mind that each piece is handmade with love, so minor irregularities and imperfections may occur. Each candle is unique, and small air bubbles are part of the natural making process. Additionally, the color of your candle may not be exactly as pictured due to factors such as lighting and the handmade nature of the product. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to get in touch through the contact form. I'm always happy to chat about my candles!

If you choose to light your candle, I recommend the following tips;

Body / Sculpted Candles Safety & Care Instructions:

  • Before lighting your candle, ensure your candle is on a flat, heat-resistance surface, away from flammable items prior to lighting

  • If your body comes with rope detailing please remove this before lighting

  • If your body has a large amount of Art Drip near where the wick is please peel it off for a cleaner burn

  • Trim wick to 5mm before lighting candle

  • Burn the candle for no more than one hour the first time you light it

  • I do not recommend burning your candle for more than 1 hour each time

  • Penis candles are for external use only!

General Candle Safety & Care Instructions:

  • Ensure your candle is on a flat, heat-resistance surface

  • Light your candle in a well-ventilated space, clear of flowers and other flammable objects

  • Keep candles out of reach from children and pets

  • When not in use, ensure your candle is kept away from direct sunlight and overly warm areas

  • Trim wicks to 5mm each time before burning

  • Extinguish candles when leaving a room/before going to sleep

  • Never burn a candle on or near anything that can catch fire such as bedding, carpets, books, paper etc.

  • Do not place lit candles where they may be knocked over

  • Always keep a burning candle within sight

  • Keep burning candles away from drafts, ceiling fans & vents

  • Always burn candles in a well-ventilated room

  • Do not burn too many candles in a small area where air exchange is limited

  • Place burning candles at least three inches apart

  • Discontinue burning a candle when 5mm of wax remains

  • Never touch or move a burning candle when the wax is liquid

  • Never use a knife or sharp object to remove wax drippings from the glass

  • Use a snuffer to extinguish to prevent hot wax splatters

  • Do not extinguish candles with water

  • Be very careful if using candles in case of a power outage

  • Do not use a candle as a night light

  • If your candle is flickering repeatedly, smoking, or the flame becomes too high, extinguish. Let it cool, trim wick, check for drafts & then re-light

  • The shelf life of HOT Candles are approximately 2 years.

Burn time.

As HOT candles are uniquely shaped, burn time is roughly an hour for smaller candles and four hours for larger candles. They will burn unevenly because of their unusual shape. When burning please make sure to have a drip tray big enough to catch the melted wax.

Frosting.

Soy wax is prone to frosting, which is where you may see small white marks on your candle. This is completely normal and is how you know you have a natural soy candle. If this occurs, you can gently buff your candle with a clean microfibre cloth. For deeply coloured candles you can add some gentle 100% natural oil (such as oils designed for use on the face) to bring the colour back to its original vibrancy.
